I've had some inspiring gaming experiences, and insightful playtests this year, all of which have coalesced into the new Planet Kamra (Core). Admittedly I'm standing on the shoulders of giants like Vincent + Meguey Baker and John Harper. Still, I hope you'll recognize some fresh ideas that bring new concepts to the table and better express the heart of the game.

What is (Core)?

Planet Kamra is no longer purely a Blades in the Dark hack. Almost all of the mechanics have been reworked and simplified. As the name implies, this version is the new foundation of the game.

What's different?

• Updated game cycle
• New conflict resolution move and dice-rolling mechanic
• Basic moves
• Streamlined character creation
• Character backgrounds have an associated XP trigger
• Vice is now called "solace," and each one includes a potentially dangerous "temptation" that rewards XP when acted on
• Less character sheet management for players
• Players choose from four alliances that affect the actions their characters are good at 
• Rules for the "Elimination Rite," the main encounter during a game session

What's next?

I will continue to playtest and iterate on Planet Kamra (Core) and create supplements that will make it a richer experience. For a while, I'll focus on guidance for running the game.

The Game Jam Edition was the first playable version of Planet Kamra. I submitted it to the Roll To Craft game jam in March 2019 and utilized it for the first playtests. This version of the game pretty different, and it's not likely to be developed further.
